Moose Pond Boat Launch

Now that the boys are so interested in fishing, we are discovering all the great ponds that are nearby. This one is just up the street. I can't believe that some of the foliage is already changing! No! It's too soon!! ;-) Although it sure is pretty...

That is a nice sized pond. Are there native fish there? Is it stocked? What fun for the boys. such a beautiful area you live in. Colors are changing here to. The nights are in the low 40s now. Where did it all go??? MB

Re your comment about the 5"/38 calibre gun at San Francisco Bay Daily Photo, the shells for this gun are 5" in diameter and about 30" long. They have a range of about 10 miles. WWII-era heavy cruisers were fitted with 8" guns, with the 5" guns being the secondary battery. The WWII-era battleships had monster 16" guns with the 5" guns as secondary battery. The 16" guns had a range of about 25 miles. Those shells weighed about a ton. When the 16" guns were fired, they would push the battleship sideways in the water, so the helmsman and the gun fire-control teams had to account for the ship's movement in the water before firing the next round.
