Red Berries

We saw these berries during the short hike that we took on Sunday. They were definitely photo worthy with that wonderful color! Anyone know what they are?

They look almost like bad cherries. But I don't know for sure.

If you have never seen a Pileated Woodpecker I just posted one on My Birds Blog at My Birds Blog

They don't look big enough to be cherries to me. Prob some holly relative or maybe hawthorne? Although I think those berries are more blue.

In any case, they are pretty!

What a gorgeous red. they look like a type of huckleberry or wild cranberry. Too early for Hawthorn, I think. MB
