I should know the name but it has been about 70 years since we had chickens and my mind must have been flushed out of the old and filled with whatever it new--blogging maybe.
Actually, we have found the White Leghorns to be the best layers. They're ugly, flighty, nervous birds, so I don't really like them, but they will lay almost an egg a day for up to 3 years before they start to slow down. They're amazing!
This hen is actually not a particular breed, but a ramdom mixed-breed bird. A mutt, if she were a dog! ;-)

The browns & blacks are pretty...you are so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful animals!
My mother was used to say brown hens are the best layers. Do you agree?
Always pretty this blog...
I'll come again...
